Management of Change: An Important Consideration for Maintenance

Management of Change (MoC) is often thought of in terms of equipment changes which are not replacement in kind. However, the MoC process casts a wider net and significantly contributes to process reliability. Alarm setpoint changes, procedure changes, organization or personnel changes are just a few examples where poor change analysis or follow-through can lead to human error, production losses and process reliability deterioration. Learn the key steps in an MoC process and how integration with other processes such Pre-Start Up Safety Review, Process Risk, Document Management, Procedure Management, Competency and Training contribute to effective change management. Ultimately, a sound MoC process can ensure that the day to day demands of operations and the changes which are ultimately necessary do not lead to poor reliability.
