Topic: How Innovation is Making Industry Safer – The Dow Chemical Company
Dow is driving innovative technology to eliminate unplanned events, reduce cost, and most importantly protect our people, community, and environment. Innovation is already helping us to achieve our 2025 goal of eliminating confined space entries. For example, we’re currently using robotics, drones, & cameras in this space. In addition, to further drive improved safety performance by use of innovation, we’ve successfully implemented the use of rope access technology to execute work at elevated locations. I will also speak on the current industry demand for skilled crafts such as instrument & analyzer technicians and how the local high school and community colleges can provide a pipeline to meet this demand.

Presentation Topic

In an industry, where driving down the cost to sustain the volatility of the oil & gas market, lowest cost may not be the best option. This is particularly true in wet gas gathering systems where specialty chemicals play a large role.

Bridging the gap between supply chain, operations and integrity is a factor but achieving the correct results has equal footing. The author will share the process that an operator takes to evaluate chemical efficacy, vendor submittals and the index-based pricing model.
